IRS Representation

An IRS letter is not something to ignore or to answer on your own. A CPA may represent taxpayers before the IRS, which means we can deal with the agency directly on your behalf, from a first notice through an examination.

What we handle

Representation covers the full range of IRS contact for businesses and their owners.

  • Notices and letters
  • Unfiled returns and back taxes
  • Penalty abatement requests
  • Installment agreements
  • Examinations (audits)

How it works

We start by reading the notice and confirming the deadline. With a signed power of attorney, we can speak with the IRS for you, gather the records, respond in writing and work toward a resolution.

What we will not do

We will not promise a result. The outcome depends on the facts, the records and the law. What we can promise is a clear explanation of where you stand and careful work on your behalf.

Questions

Common questions

I got an IRS notice. What should I do first?

Find the notice number and the response deadline, and do not ignore it. Then gather the return it refers to and call us before you reply.

Can you talk to the IRS for me?

Yes. With a signed power of attorney (Form 2848), a CPA can represent you and communicate with the IRS on your behalf.

Can you get my penalties removed?

We can review whether you qualify for relief and request it where the facts support it. Whether the IRS grants relief is the IRS’s decision.

I have several years of unfiled returns. Is it too late?

No. Getting back into compliance is usually better than waiting. We can prepare the missing returns and work out how to address any balance.

A short call to see whether we’re the right fit. No obligation.
